AUSTIN (KXAN) — Quieter weather is on the way today after storms for some of us yesterday.

Severe storms on Thursday produced wind damage in San Saba with multiple trees reported blown down across the city. Golf ball size hail was also reported in SE San Saba County, and near Fredonia. A Tornado Warning was issued for Lampasas County but no touchdowns were reported.

Today looks mostly cloudy as a cold front sags through the area. Rain chances are down to just 10% with only a spotty sprinkle or light shower here and there. The placement of the front will mean a wide variety of high temperatures. Some afternoon highs in the 60s are possible in parts of the Hill Country, whereas areas southeast of Austin may reach the low 80s later today. We expect Austin ends up somewhere in the middle closer to the mid 70s.

Saturday the general idea is that during the daylight hours we’ll have long breaks without rain, but some occasional showers and isolated storms.

Rain chances rise as we head through the day on Saturday, but your best chances for rain and storms continues to be the evening and overnight.

Rainfall projections have come down with most areas getting a quarter inch to 1 inch, but localized 2-3″ amounts will be possible in spots.

A localized flash flood threat continues on Saturday, but most of the rain should be beneficial and not troublesome. Just be careful travelling Saturday night and watch for roads covered in water. Remember, “turn around, don’t drown!”

Sunday the showers end very early giving us a mostly cloudy day. The passage of the cold front will make for a much cooler day with highs only in the 60s. Some late day sun is possible, but clouds and a cool breeze will dominate.
